Are You Masculine Enough?

Oil and Acrylic on Canvas.
108 x 58 cm

My goal in “Are You Masculine Enough?” is to confuse the audience with stereotypes and collections of people’s subjective viewpoints on masculinity. I achieved this by combining specific and widely conceived male-stereotypes: the colour blue, logic, science, and toughness. I researched images from pop culture and art history, and interpreted them alongside images from my life, to represent an interesting but also confusing depiction of biased gender identity. Some researched elements were abstracted to enhance confusion and mystery to the painting.
